Our home has a colourful history of over three hundred years. Originally built as a large town house it was later converted into the towns Gendarmerie. Complete with stable block, paddock and gaol. The stable block is now two separate dwellings while the bars can still be seen on the windows of the old barn, which made the gaol.
The house and large garden are only 150 metres from the main square and commercial centre of Bourganeuf and sits in a typical narrow French town street with many impressive buildings.
Bourganeuf is a busy market town with shops, café’s, bars and restaurants and is nestled in the top end of a valley and surrounded by the fantastic Creuse countryside of rolling hills and deep forests of Oak, Chestnut and Fir. It is only 60km directly east of the regions capital Limoge and Bellgarde international airport.
Your hosts Kelly and Paul invite you to come and spend some time in our tranquil home. Even though it is only a stone’s throw away from the busy town centre, you can still relax on our patio overlooking the towns chateau and hear a pin drop. Or sit in our courtyard and lap up the atmosphere with a glass of wine or game of boules.
Our home can give you the best of both worlds a lively town with its weekly market or just a ten minute walk away you can wonder along a river valley gorge and watch the birds of prey soar while being completely surrounded by woods.
If you are keen on fishing there is the river Thaurion which skirts the town or the largest man made lake in France Lac Vassivierre is just a 30 minute drive away.
